Wedding photography is all about emotions and people
WHY have your WEDDING DAY DOCUMENTED from dusk till dawn? Because it will be a thrilling day full of excitement and strong feelings, but before you know it, the day will be over. What’s left will be intense memories and great pictures. You will not be able to see everything that happens during the day, wandering trough the photographs will complete your experience. YES! I am more than happy to shoot those pictures.
LET’S MEET, without any obligation or costs, and talk about expectations, styles, and hopes. What part you want most pictures of ? Who do you want to see a lot ? Do you want groep portrats ? Who’s in those? What’s your personal touch on this wedding ? Is there a theme ? Does a friend makes e dessert buffet ? Did you prepare special drinks ? Did you grow your own flowers for this ? I need to know all of it, because it would be a pity that you do not have pictures oh these details, those flowers, these encounters.
HOW LONG DO WE NEED A PHOTOGRAPHER? That all depends on what you want me to photograph. On request, I will e-mail you a log and detailed list of all the different moments that can take place during a wedding day. Look into it and let me know what are the most important to you. So we can calculate together how much time we will need to cover your main preferred moments like preparing, first look, ceremony, reception, and some family portraits. If you want to have nice extra portraits of you as a couple, intimate moments between friends and family, the mood of the location, the emotions during the speeches, details of the dinner, your first dance… then you better plan more shooting hours. It is an investment, but think about it. Your expensive flower arrangements will be gone the next day, but your pictures will help you evoke those exceptional emotions, over and over again.

“HIGHLIGHTS” are some well chosen pictures
Among the highlights is often the “couple shoot.” The accent is on moments of beauty or romance. We take time to show off that beautiful dress, those flowers, rings, hairpiece, cool lining of the jacket. Maybe some posing is involved as long as it stays relaxed I am OK with that. I will gently guide you and make sure you look elegant. And I try to work so quickly you will not have time to feel awkward. I like to keep you both moving, remember I am a movie director after all.
A “WEDDING GALLERY” is a realistic overview
of the whole event. It documents the feel, the mood and the activities. Pictures are more human. We show friendship, encounters, smiles and hughs. Good food, beautiful table settings, the fun car, and hard work behind the scenes.
MY STYLE: All pictures on my website are taken at real weddings. I call it a documentary style because I am very much an observer. Moments are often stolen in a split second. For some posed pictures, I try to include movement and action. Work in post-production can add a cinematic feel to the photos. While the big day is planned and scheduled, I also try to notice and capture the small stories that develop. The fun with your friends, the hugs after emotional speeches, the exchanges you have with each other.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR A SHOOT ? I do research on shooting styles , conduct technical tests, and go on location visits to verify the position of the sun. I also look for a backup plan in case of rain. I will sit down with the event planner to go through the day and identify the highlights. And of course, I will work with you to understand what is important to you. Additionally, we will have a mini couple shoot. To align our ideas, I need to know your preferences. Do you prefer warm tones, a crisp look, or a grainy atmosphere? We will cover everything and anything, and I will provide you with a questionnaire to fill out. It is nice to plan for some quiet moments during your day, to spend some time together, just the two of you, to take a breath and look into each other’s eyes, and to take some cool couple pictures.
THE PART OF THE DAY THAT I CAN NOT WAIT TO CAPTURE ? I love the quiet moments early in the morning before it all begins. I like the low light moment, where the sun puts a silver lining through your hair. I love the vibe when all the guests have arrived and are greeted and you are both are already relaxed , joyful and a crazy in love. But during the day the most beautiful moments are the genuine smiles. Everybody is so beautiful with a smile on. I also enjoy observing the vibes by the end of the day where everybody goes crazy and so much love is shared. For my middle of the night pictures I often lake “out of focus” or with motion blurr. Those are just a reference of a joyful mood and I try to keep those elegant and suggestive.
HOW TO STAY INSPIRED? I am inspired by Light, and I get emotional seeing all the love and connections on wedding days. Light is ever-changing, making us see or hiding things. The harsh sun, the shadow, the soft winter light, the indirect spring sun, they all inspire. I think light brings so much beauty. Although we never have the light intensity I experienced when living in Los Angeles, I do prefer and I did miss the beautiful northern lights we have here. Light is invisible but makes us see. I find that incredible It’s been painted by Vermeer, Turner, Monet an many more.. I am also inspired by imperfections, like the “wabi-sabi” philosophy, where the beauty is in the imperfections. There is beauty everywhere. You just need to observe. I think good light and genuine emotions make pictures timeless.
WHEN DO YOU GET TO SEE SOMETHING ? I do my best to send you a first impression as quickly as possible. The larger batch takes some weeks to edit.
